Giants, Twins, Cubs In On Carlos Correa
2 years agoThe San Francisco Giants, Minnesota Twins and Chicago Cubs are among the teams in on free-agent shortstop Carlos Correa, who has the advantages of being a little younger than Xander Bogaerts and Trea Turner while also having no qualifying offer attached to him. Turner received an 11-year, $300 million deal from the Philadelphia Phillies and Bogaerts got an 11-year, $280 million deal from the San Diego Padres this week, so Correa is going to cash in. The 28-year-old Correa is one of the best defensive shortstops in the game but can also swing it, slashing .279/.357/.479 with an .836 OPS in eight big-league seasons. Last year in Minnesota, he hit .291/.366/.467 with an .834 OPS, 22 home runs, 64 RBI and 70 runs scored in 136 at-bats.
