Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo has been a pleasant surprise this year. The former Maryland Terrapin is an athletic freak. He ran a 4.52 40-yard dash at the 2022 NFL Combine, the fastest among tight ends.
More importantly, Okonkwo has started to play well lately. After seeing only six targets over the first six games of the year, the rookie has flashed plenty of potential over the past five weeks.
The former Maryland star has averaged 5.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game over the past five weeks, making him the TE13 during that span.

Should I Pickup And Start Chigoziem Okonkwo In Week 14?
On the surface, his 5.5 fantasy points per game average isn't impressive. However, Okonkwo has scored 27.3 fantasy points over the past five weeks on only 10 receptions. Furthermore, he has 223 receiving yards during that span, averaging 22.3 yards and 2.73 fantasy points per catch.
More importantly, the Titans won’t have Treylon Burks this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The first-round pick was playing well over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, he is out Sunday because of a concussion.
While Okonkwo isn’t a wide receiver, the former Maryland star should see more targets this week. Furthermore, he has a fantasy-friendly matchup against the AFC South division rivals.
The Jaguars have surrendered 9.9 fantasy points per game to tight ends this season, slightly above the league average. However, they have gotten destroyed by the position lately. Over the past five games, the Jaguars have surrendered 13.7 fantasy points per game to tight ends, giving up 10.7 or more fantasy points in 60% of the contests.
What Other Waiver Wire Tight Ends Should I Consider?
However, another tight end that fantasy players should consider off the waiver wire is Hunter Henry. The veteran tight end has an excellent matchup against the Arizona Cardinals this week.
The NFC West team has surrendered 15.7 fantasy points per game to tight ends this season, the most in the NFL. They have allowed tight ends to score 11 or more fantasy points in all but two games this season. Furthermore, Arizona has the worst red zone defense in the league.
Fantasy players have two appealing streaming options this week. Henry is available in over 70% of ESPN leagues, while Okonkwo is available in over 95%.
