Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo is on the trade block and has reportedly been available for more than a month. The right-shot blueliner was brought back to the Hurricanes on a one-year deal in the offseason but has not appeared in a game since Nov. 18. A 2014 first-round pick, DeAngelo has collected one goal and seven points in 16 games for the Hurricanes this season but is a minus-10 and has recorded just 28 shots and one hit during that time. He spent the 2021-22 season in Carolina when he recorded 10 goals and 51 points across 64 games before notching 11 goals and 42 points in 70 games with the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2022-23 campaign.

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo is expected to be healthy scratched for Friday's game against the Florida Panthers. DeAngelo has played in all 13 games for the Canes so far this season, but with Brett Pesce ready to return, it looks like he will be the odd man out. Tony D isn't known for his defensive prowess, but he has been decent on the offensive side this season, notching six points in 13 games. He is a -8 though, and Rod Brind'Amour likely wants to see some better defense out of DeAngelo if he's going to be a full-time player. He is still a decent points-only league option when he plays.

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo finds himself part of a stacked blue line for the 2023-24, but he is looking forward to the challenge of battling for ice time. "I think everybody should want to battle for ice time. There's nothing given to you," DeAngelo told Cory Lavalette of The Athletic. "When you come in, certain guys are gonna get it, that is what it is. But they deserve it, too. For me, I know I can play." In the same interview with Lavalette, DeAngelo notes that the current Hurricanes backline is probably the best ever assembled in the cap era. It's definitely going to be a huge challenge for him to make his mark on the team, but DeAngelo's offensive ability is a great asset for Carolina, and it certainly gives him an edge over some of his teammates.

Defenseman Tony DeAngelo has rejoined the Carolina Hurricanes as a free agent, signing a one-year, $1.675 million deal. DeAngelo was traded to Philadelphia only last July when he had spent just one season in Raleigh, but he is making a quick return after the Flyers bought out his two-year, $10 million contract that had one year left on it. DeAngelo had a decent campaign offensively in 2022-23 with 11 goals and 42 points in 70 games. He was even more productive as a Hurricane the year before, registering 51 points across 64 outings, and Carolina will certainly be hoping that the 27-year-old can get close to the same level of play in the upcoming season. In 340 career games, the offensive-minded blue-liner has tallied 199 points in total.
