Is D'Andre Swift Healthy Or Injured?
Swift was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice because of an ankle injury. However, the third-year running back was a full participant in practice today.
The star running back is coming off an excellent performance in the Week 13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He had 18 touches for 111 scrimmage yards, a rushing touchdown, and scored 19.1 half-point PPR fantasy points. More importantly, his 18 touches were the most Swift had in a game since Week 1.
While he was a full participant in today’s practice, fantasy players should remain cautiously optimistic. Swift has played in six straight contests, but his health has been frustrating for fantasy players this season.
Therefore, fantasy players should explore the waiver wire for a potential replacement option if Swift can’t play on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
What Running Back Should I Add Off The Wavier Wire?
The top waiver wire running back target is James Cook. He is available in over 50% of ESPN leagues. The second-round pick has earned more of a role lately. Last week, the rookie running back had 20 touches for 110 scrimmage yards in the win over the New England Patriots. Furthermore, his 110 scrimmage yards led the team.
More importantly, last week was the second time Cook earned double-digit rushing attempts over the past three weeks. By comparison, he had only one such performance over the first nine games this season.
Furthermore, the rookie has a solid matchup this week against the New York Jets. The AFC East division rival has surrendered 101.3 rushing yards and 21.9 half-point PPR fantasy points per game to running backs over the past three weeks.
If Swift can’t play this week, Cook is an excellent replacement option.
