Phillies Claim Jake Cave Off Waivers From Orioles
2 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies claimed outfielder Jake Cave off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles on Friday, according to president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski. The Phillies' 40-man roster now stands at 38 players with the addition of Cave. Baltimore claimed Cave off waivers from the Minnesota Twins right after the end of the 2022 season, but he'll now be joining the Phillies for next year. The 29-year-old left-handed batter played in 54 games for the Twins in 2022, batting .213/.260/.384 with five home runs, 20 RBI, 17 runs scored and two stolen bases in 177 plate appearances. He'll serve as outfield depth with his new organization. Cave is a .235/.297/.411 hitter in five major-league seasons, all with the Twins.
