The Jets have been trying to find a consistent producer in their backfield ever since rookie running back Breece Hall tore his ACL in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos. That’s led to a combination of Michael Carter, James Robinson, Ty Johnson, and Zonovan Knight taking turns carrying the ball.
Last week, the team opted to healthy scratch James Robinson, leaving the backfield with Carter, Johnson, and Knight as the active running backs on gameday. Carter was the lead back until he suffered an ankle injury against the Bears, where Knight surprisingly took over the bulk of the carries. Now we look ahead to Week 13’s matchup to try and decide if this backfield is worth rostering.

Is Michael Carter playing in Week 13?
Things aren’t looking good for Michael Carter ahead of the team’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Carter missed practice for the entire week, leading to a doubtful designation heading into Sunday’s game.
At this point, it seems highly unlikely that Carter is healthy enough to suit up for Sunday’s game.
Should I pick up and start Zonovan "Bam" Knight For Fantasy Football?
That leaves us with the complicated decision of what to do with the backfield. Zonovan Knight (103 all-purpose yards) and Ty Johnson (78 all-purpose yards and one touchdown) split the workload after Carter’s injury in Week 12. The team will likely choose to activate James Robinson as well for depth.
Based on his efficiency and workload, Zonovan Knight should be rostered if he survived this week’s waiver wire run in your fantasy league. But fantasy managers should exercise some caution before instantly firing him up in their lineups.
Knight will likely get the first crack given his success against Chicago. However, there is a chance that Ty Johnson gets more run this week, especially if the Jets find themselves in a negative game script against the Vikings. The Jets could also go with a full three-headed backfield and use an active James Robinson on the ground as well.
Ultimately, the decision to start Zonovan Knight comes down to your roster at the running back position. If you have a running back on bye or navigating an injury, then Knight will have a solid matchup against a Vikings defense allowing over 18.0 fantasy points per game to running backs this season. At worst, Knight does have some FLEX appeal in lineups in Week 13.
