Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan has had an up-and-down year with the Colts, as he has had six finishes in the top-20, but he is second in the NFL in turnovers. The biggest bump in the road for Ryan was the benching in favor of Sam Ehlinger, who actually ended up performing worse than Ryan. With Ryan back under center, he remains an extremely volatile fantasy option. Currently the overall QB21 on the season, Ryan's matchup this week against Dallas is probably one to avoid for anyone looking to stream quarterbacks. Dallas' pass rush has ruined a few teams' game plans this season, and the Colts' shaky offensive line allows that to be a risk for Ryan. He's best left on the waiver wire this week in superflex formats.--Frank Licausi Jr. - RotoBaller

Free-agent quarterback Matt Ryan, who announced he's joining the broadcast booth for the 2023 season, said it's unlikely that he'll play in the NFL again. "All the stars would have to [align]. I've just learned… in the 15 years I've played, to not shut any doors," Ryan said. The former MVP made it clear he wasn't retiring earlier this week, but the chances of him joining another NFL team at this point are slim to none. He earned four Pro Bowl selections in his 14 years with the Atlanta Falcons and led his team to one Super Bowl appearance. As a 38-year-old for the Indianapolis Colts in 2022, Ryan had a career-low 14 touchdowns in 12 games and was eventually benched. If he were to officially retire, the Colts could come after some of the $12 million guaranteed they owe him after cutting him.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Free-agent quarterback Matt Ryan announced on Twitter that he's joining CBS Sports as an analyst this year, but that he's not retiring from the game. Ryan will be in the broadcast booth in 2023, but he's not closing the book on his NFL career after falling flat for the Indianapolis Colts in 2022. The 37-year-old former MVP completed 67 percent of his passes last year for 3,057 yards, 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 12 games before he was benched. It wasn't entirely his fault, though, as the Colts' offensive line didn't give him much of a chance to be successful in the pocket. Even if Ryan does sign with another NFL team down the road, it won't be in anything more than a backup role.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Indianapolis Colts released quarterback Matt Ryan on Tuesday, according to a source. The Colts moved on from Ryan well before releasing him on Tuesday, as he was benched midway through his first and only season with the team. It wasn't all the 37-year-old's fault, but he didn't exactly play very well, either. In 12 starts for the team, he completed 67 percent of his passes for 3,057 yards, 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. The Colts' offensive line did him no favors, and Ryan had virtually zero chance to succeed with hardly many clean pockets to throw from. The move to cut him will save the Colts over $17 million on the 2023 salary cap. The four-time Pro Bowler will look for work elsewhere if he wants to continue his playing career, but Ryan looked pretty washed up in 2022.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan might not be on the team for much longer. The expectation is that the team will cut Ryan ahead of his $35.2 million salary becoming guaranteed on March 17th. The Colts would save $17.2 million by cutting Ryan, so that is likely what they will do as they head towards a rebuild. Despite that, general manager Chris Ballard says the team is uncertain on the future of Ryan. It's hard to believe that the Colts would keep Ryan after his performance last season. Ryan threw 13 interceptions and had a season-high 15 fumbles last season. This team is heading into a rebuild and have the 4th overall pick in the upcoming draft. The expectation is that they will cut Ryan and save that money for free agency. The 37-year-old should be able to find a job elsewhere as a possible bridge quarterback.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
