Red Sox, Rangers Serious About Mitch Haniger
2 years agoThe Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers are among the most serious suitors for free-agent outfielder Mitch Haniger, according to sources. Haniger wasn't given a $19.65 million qualifying offer from the Seattle Mariners at the end of the season, so he has hit free agency for the first time in his career. The 31-year-old has had his share of injury concerns in his career and suffered a high-ankle sprain in April that limited him to 57 games in 2022. When he was healthy, he was solid for the M's and fantasy managers with a .246/.308/.429 slash line with 11 home runs, 34 RBI and 31 runs scored in 247 plate appearances. Haniger was an All-Star in 2018 when he hit .285 with 26 home runs and 98 RBI in 157 games, and he also hit a career-high 39 home runs and drove in 100 runs in 157 games in 2021.
