Jordan Mason On The Radar As A Potential Flex Play
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason carried the ball five times for 25 yards in a Week 12 win over the New Orleans Saints. Mason was pressed into action after the 49ers lost Elijah Mitchell to an MCL injury in Week 12. Starter Christian McCaffrey was also dealing with knee irritation during Week 12's win, limiting him to 62.9% of the team's offensive snaps. McCaffrey is likely to play through the injury, but it serves as a good reminder that he has been injured often since the beginning of the 2020 season. The 49ers also have third-round pick Tyrion Davis-Price waiting in the wings. Davis-Price has been inactive since Week 7 but could be active and take some backup carries away from Mason. Mason is a low-end flex play heading into Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins unless McCaffrey is a surprise inactive.
