Elijah Mitchell Likely Out 6-8 Weeks
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) suffered an MCL sprain in the Week 12 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday and is likely to be out another six to eight weeks. The injury isn't to the same knee that Mitchell sprained in the season opener, but he's still going to miss significant time. The 24-year-old didn't return until Week 9 after his first MCL sprain, and the 49ers think his latest knee injury isn't as severe as the first one. Still, he's droppable in single-year fantasy formats. Christian McCaffrey will remain the team's primary back, with rookies Jordan Mason and Tyrion Davis-Price now stepping into bigger roles behind CMC the rest of the way. It's been a disappointing year for Mitchell after he led San Fran's backfield with 963 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 207 carries in his rookie year in 2021.
