Brazil Team Breakdown
Brazil are a bit of a strange top-tier option in that they actually are (pretty much) fully fit! Unlike the likes of France, Brazil has its full contingent to call upon. In this one, there are plenty of stars that can be called on, especially in attack. They are likely to play a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Strengths: Attack. Like most previous Brazil squads, this team has a multitude of attacking talent. Gabriel Jesus, who has been performing really well in the Premier League might not even start in this one. Instead, it currently looks to be Richarlison spearheading an attack that includes Neymar, Raphina, and Vinicius Junior.
Weaknesses: Brazil's midfield can at times struggle to beat out physical teams. Serbia is full of tough midfield options that could frustrate Casemiro and Lucas Paqueta in the middle of the field. That is the key for Serbia.
Serbia Team Breakdown
Serbia needs its star players to be available if they are going to be able to meet the expectations that were set during their qualifying campaign. If the team can feed their attacking talent, they have a boxer's chance of getting a result in this one. We have already seen giants fall in the opening week, we could see another one here.
Strengths: Physical players. Brazil is a flair team at heart, yes they have the likes of Thiago Silva who can deal with a bit of roughness, but Serbia is littered with physical players. Aleksandar Mitrovic might not start in this game, but the way he has bullied Premier League defenders this season is the blueprint for Serbia to get something from this game.
Weaknesses: Defense. The Serbian defense has a goalkeeper who is really inexperienced in international football, with just seven caps to date. Having to organize a defense to deal with this Brazilian attack is really something you'd prefer a veteran to be doing. That inexperience is going to be a deciding factor here when the pressure is turned up.
Brazil v Serbia Preview
This game is likely to start out a bit slow and cagey, especially after Brazil's bitter rivals Argentina suffered a shock loss. But with inexperience in defense, especially at goalkeeper, I can't see Serbia's defense dealing with the attacking talent of Brazil.
Score prediction: Brazil 3-1 Serbia
