2 years agoChicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (thumb) is getting close to returning to the lineup. He is recovering from a broken thumb suffered on Oct. 30 versus Buffalo. Jones is back skating on his own in practice and Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson said on Wednesday that the 28-year-old is seven to ten days away from getting back to action. Jones was able to get four points in eight games before getting knocked out of the lineup. He didn't have a good start to the campaign, but Jones is a big presence at both ends of the ice for Chicago, and the team will hope to get him back as soon as possible. He will miss at least two more games, starting with Saturday's trip to Boston.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 months agoChicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (illness) will return to the lineup on Sunday against the Minnesota Wild. Jones sat out Friday's contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning and didn't practice on Saturday due to an illness. However, Jones is ready to rejoin the action on Sunday, taking TJ Brodie's spot in the lineup. Operating as Chicago's No. 1 defenseman, Jones has logged 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) in 31 appearances, along with 58 blocks and 40 hits. Alec Martinez (illness) is also good to go after skipping Saturday's practice, so Chicago has its top defensive pairing available for the tough matchup.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

4 months agoChicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (foot) is expected to miss four weeks of action. Jones injured his right foot when he blocked a shot in a game against Seattle last week. He will sit out a third consecutive contest on Thursday versus Florida. The multi-time All-Star is a big contributor at both ends of the ice, and Chicago has struggled without him, losing back-to-back games with a combined score of 7-3. Nolan Allan has jumped back into action during Jones' absence, while Alex Vlasic led the Blackhawks blue-liners with 26:34 of ice time in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Anaheim. He has also logged the most power-play time among defensemen in the last two games.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

5 months agoChicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (foot) has been placed on Injured Reserve. He logged over 26 minutes of action against Seattle on Wednesday but also injured his right foot in the contest. Jones will be unavailable for at least three games, starting with Saturday's matchup against Vancouver. Jones' absence leaves a huge gap in the Chicago defense. He's the team's third-highest scorer with 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 17 games and has racked up 34 blocks with 22 hits. The Blackhawks have recalled Louis Crevier from the minors, while Nolan Allan is another option to enter the lineup on Saturday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

1 year agoChicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones scored his first goal of the season in overtime on Friday as the Blackhawks defeated the visiting New York Islanders by a 4-3 score. The veteran rearguard beat Islanders netminder Ilya Sorokin from the high slot with plenty of traffic aiding his wrister past the Russian netminder. Jones has endured a down season offensively, like many Blackhawks skaters, as he now has just 13 points in 31 games along with 72 shots on goal and a minus-eight rating in that time. He managed 12 goals and 37 points across 72 games last season but has once again been hit with the injury bug this time around. He is still logging 25:27 of ice time per game, good for fourth-most in the NHL.--Brenton Kemp
