Scott Wedgewood Day-To-Day After Being Stretchered Off Thursday
2 years agoDallas Stars goalie Scott Wedgewood (upper-body) is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and is doubtful for Saturday's game against the New York Islanders. It would have been a surprise if Wedgewood was able to go Saturday, given he was stretchered off on Thursday. However, the Stars backup netminder was apparently in good spirits after the contest and was seen walking. He shouldn't be out too long, which is good news for the Stars, as he's done an admirable job filling in for Jake Oettinger when needed. On the year, he has a 4-3-1 record with a .904 SV%, 3.23 GAA, and -0.3 GSAA, perfectly fine numbers for a backup.

Scott Wedgewood Unavailable On Saturday
3 months agoColorado Avalanche goaltender Scott Wedgewood (lower body) will be out on Saturday against Montreal and faces a multi-game absence. The veteran netminder suffered a lower-body injury in Thursday's matchup against Buffalo. "He's still getting evaluated, so I'm guessing it's going to be week to week," Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said on Friday. Wedgewood, who was acquired in a trade from Nashville on Nov. 30, has impressed with his new team, going 4-2-0 with a 2.35 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. Kevin Mandolese and Trent Miner will be the backup options behind Mackenzie Blackwood while Wedgewood recovers.

Scott Wedgewood Leaves Thursday's Game Early
3 months agoAccording to Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports, Colorado Avalanche goaltender Scott Wedgewood (lower body) departed Thursday's game early. When Wedgewood left in the third period, he was unable to put any weight on his right leg and needed assistance to leave the ice. Before exiting, he stopped 14 of the 18 shots he faced against the Buffalo Sabres. Fantasy managers should continue to closely monitor his status, as he may have to miss a significant amount of time given how serious the injury looked during the game. In the short term, fantasy managers should expect Mackenzie Blackwood to receive the vast majority of the starts. Entering Thursday, Wedgewood was carrying a strong 3-1 record with a 1.79 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage over his previous four starts.

Scott Wedgewood Impresses With Shutout Performance Versus Devils
4 months agoColorado Avalanche goaltender Scott Wedgewood had a memorable outing against New Jersey on Sunday, collecting his first shutout of the season in a 4-0 road win. Wedgewood was unbeatable for his former team, recording 25 saves. The veteran netminder, who arrived from Nashville on Nov. 30 as the two teams switched backup goalies, has had an impressive start with his new club. Through three outings, Wedgewood boasts a 2-1-0 record, allowing 1.44 goals with a .951 save percentage. Colorado's No. 1 Alexandar Georgiev has not been good this season, so Wedgewood might find himself carrying a significant workload in Denver.

Scott Wedgewood Faces Devils On Sunday
4 months agoColorado Avalanche goaltender Scott Wedgewood will be between the sticks for Sunday's matchup against New Jersey. He'll make his second start for the team after arriving from Nashville a week ago. The veteran netminder suffered a 5-3 loss in his first start against Carolina, but Wedgewood has impressed by stopping 52 of 56 shots across his first two appearances with the Avalanche. He made his debut in a relief effort against Buffalo on Tuesday, helping the team turn a 4-0 deficit into a 5-4 win. Wedgewood will have a tricky task on his hands against his former team on Sunday, as the Devils average the sixth-most goals in the league (3.52).
