Maxi Kleber, JaVale McGee Out Versus Houston
Maxi Kleber (back) and JaVale McGee (neck) are out for Wednesday's meeting with the Rockets. Luka Doncic (rest) won't play either, and the Mavs will also be shorthanded underneath the basket, allowing Christian Would to see plenty of minutes and scoring opportunities. At the same time, Dwight Powell, who has averaged 7.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in six starts this season, is expected to enter the starting lineup.

JaVale McGee Preferred Kings To Warriors
JaVale McGee elected against joining his former team, the Golden State Warriors, when the Dallas Mavericks waived him last month. The 35-year-old won two championships with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018, but he decided to join the Sacramento Kings instead for the upcoming campaign. McGee won multiple rings with the Warriors but actually didn't play a lot for the team, averaging just 9.5 minutes per game. He would've been well down in the pecking order on the current roster as well, although McGee isn't expected to see the court very often for the Kings either.

JaVale McGee Does Not Have Guaranteed Roster Spot
JaVale McGee to a one-year deal. It was reported that the deal was a one-year contract for the veteran minimum. That being said, the deal is worth a little over $3 million considering McGee has over 10 years of NBA service time. The expectation is that McGee will make the roster because of the guaranteed money, but the Kings could still cut him if they don't believe he can contribute to their roster. The Kings have six centers on their roster, so there's no chance that they carry all of them on their regular season roster.

Kings Interested In JaVale McGee
JaVale McGee, who was waived by the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. McGee signed a three-year deal for around $17 million with Dallas last summer, but he became redundant on the team and averaged just 8.5 minutes in 42 appearances. The three-time NBA champion doesn't really have a clear pathway to playing time in Sactown either, but it looks like the Kings believe that McGee can be valuable for them. If he indeed moves to Sacramento, McGee will find himself on a sixth different team in six seasons.

Mavericks Expected To Waive-And-Stretch JaVale McGee
JaVale McGee will reportedly be looking for a new team after August 31. According to Marc Stein, the team is expected to waive-and-stretch the veteran big man by the deadline on August 31 barring any unforeseen trade that would require McGee's contract. The 35-year-old played in just 42 games for the Mavericks last year and averaged 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per contest across 8.5 minutes per game. After being a key reserve for a few championship teams, he became a non-factor once he went to Dallas. Teams looking for a backup big will look toward McGee for some veteran presence.
