NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/16/22
On a three-game slate, typically the best plays are pretty straightforward forward while for GPPs you might have to be willing to take some exposure on an underdog or the third line for a team. What does that look like?

As always, ensure the goalie in your lineup is confirmed before the lineup lock! With several teams on a back-to-back, it is a safe assumption to go with the goalie that did not start the previous night. Everyone else you have to double-check! There is nothing worse than having a great lineup but taking a zero at goalie. This has happened to me before and it stinks!
NHL DFS Goalies
Jordan Binnington DK $8.1K || FD $7.1K
Opponent - Edmonton Oilers
Is Binnington back? After having a brutal start to the season, Binnington has turned in two straight performances against Colorado and Vegas. In those two games, he allowed four goals and had 79 saves in those two games combined. Saint Louis is a -165 favorite, tied for the strongest odds on the slate with Ottawa. He the most expensive goalie on DraftKings but the cheapest on FanDuel. He's my top play despite how shaky he has been at times.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Forsberg (DK $8.0K || FD $8.0K), Soderblom (DK $7.3K || FD $7.8K)
NHL DFS Centers
Connor McDavid -DK $9.8K || FD $10.7K
Opponent - Los Angeles Kings
Connor McDavid has been picking it up lately with 22 points in his last 10 games played. He has 15 goals and 17 assists in 16 games played while averaging four shots on goal per game. He has the most upside on the slate and his floor isn't bad either.
Tim Stuetzle -DK $6.2K || FD $7.4K
Opponent - Buffalo Sabres
Ottawa gets Buffalo on a back-to-back for the Sabres. Buffalo most likely will start Eric Comrie, who has a 3.62 GAA and .885 SV%. Stuetzle has 15 points in 15 games including four in his last two games. Ottawa is in a good spot here.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Draisaitl (DK $8.6K || FD $10.4K), Thompson (DK $7.7K || FD $10.1K)
NHL DFS Wings
Brady Tkachuk- DK $7.8K || FD $9.7K
Opponent - Buffalo Sabres
It was discussed earlier how good of a spot Ottawa is in going against a Buffalo team that played last night and starting their backup goalie. Tkachuk has 20 points in 15 games played and averages 3.9 shots on goal per game. Claude Giroux is a good pivot to pair with Stuetzle if Tkachuk ends up being too expensive.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins- DK $5.9K || FD $7.8K
Opponent - Los Angeles Kings
I like Nugent-Hopkins here as he skates with McDavid on the top line and also is on the top power-play unit, too. He has 17 points in 16 games played while averaging 2.5 shots on goal per game. He doesn't have tons of upside but if McDavid has a big game, he could be assisting on a number of those goals. Skating with McDavid is a good thing.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Giroux (DK $5.5K || FD $8.1K), Fiala (DK $5.2K || FD $7.2K, Kaliyev (DK $3.7K || FD $5.6K)
NHL DFS Defensemen
Justin Faulk- DK $6.4K || FD $7.4K
Opponent - Chicago Blackhawks
Justin Faulk has 11 points in 14 games played while averaging 3.07 shots on goal per game. He gets time on the second power-play unit and regularly gets 22 minutes of ice time or more per game. In a cash game, this is the most I would pay for a defenseman on this slate.
Jake Sanderson- DK $4.0K || FD $4.7K
Opponent - Buffalo Sabres
Jake Sanderson is on the top power play and remains a bargain in DFS. In three of his last four games, he had three shots on goal each game. Then on November 14th, he had 25 minutes of ice time with no fantasy points. On a slate where there are not a lot of great options, getting someone on a top power play for cheap is not a bad way to go.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): C. Jones (DK $4.4K || FD $4.3K), Ceci (DK $3.5K || FD $4.1K)
NHL DFS Top Stacks
Here is a handful of stacks I like:
- EDM1/PP1: Edmonton is facing Quick most likely who has a .895 SV%. I also like the Power Play stack here as well if you can find the value to fit four of the skaters in. The Kings have the seventh-worst penalty kill.
- STL2/PP1: Soderblom has had a good start to the year. Chicago has the eighth-worst penalty kill and I am willing to test them. This would be very boom or bust if Soderblom continues to play as he has to start the season.
- OTT1/PP1: Buffalo will be tired, has their backup goalie, and has the fourth-worst penalty kill in the league.
- LA2: This is correlated to the second power-play unit. Edmonton doesn't play defense and is a way to get a little different on this slate.
- CHI3: If you want to get really weird on a large field tournament, Jason Dickinson and Mackenzie Entwistle are on the second power-play unit. The Blues have a good penalty kill, and while I did recommend Binnington, he has been playing over his head a little as of late.
