Brewers Unlikely To Trade Willy Adames
2 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers are unlikely to trade shortstop Willy Adames this offseason. Luis Urias and Brice Turang can both play shortstop, but Adames is a core player for the Brewers. Newly promoted general manager Matt Arnold is also well aware of the negative impact that the trade of closer Josh Hader had to close out the season. Second baseman Kolten Wong will earn $10 million next year and right fielder Hunter Renfroe is projected to get $11.2 million in arbitration, so they could be moved if they want to reconfigure their payroll. Adames is projected to earn $9.2 million in arbitration and is under club control through 2024. In his first full year in Milwaukee, Adames hit just .238 but also had a career-high 31 home runs, 98 RBI, 83 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 139 games played.
