The Diamond continues to shine as Dustin Poirier earned a huge victory over another top-ranked lightweight in Michael Chandler on Saturday by securing a third-round submission via rear-naked choke. In 12:00 of total action, Poirier tallied 38 significant strikes (63 total strikes) while being slightly out-struck by Chandler. After a barn-burner of a first round, Chandler looked to take the second round before Poirier secured Chandler's back in the third to lock in the rear-naked choke. Poirier has now won four of his last five fights, with his lone loss coming in a title matchup with Charles Oliveira.--Matt Bricker

This Saturday in the main event of UFC 302, former interim titleholder Dustin Poirier will have what is most likely his final chance at the promotion's lightweight title. He is set to face off against UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. Poirier got back in the win column in his last fight by knocking out Benoit Saint-Denis back in March at UFC 299. Heading into this fight, Poirier is a sizeable underdog, as DraftKings has him at a salary of $6,700. In his UFC career, he's averaging 81.8 fantasy points per fight.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBaller

Dustin Poirier scored a second-round TKO over Benoit Saint-Denis in the co-main event of UFC 299 on Saturday. Poirier struggled in the first round as he jumped the guillotine but didn't get it as Saint-Denis had over three minutes of control in the first round. In the second round Poirier landed a big uppercut that dropped Saint-Denis. He then followed it up with some more strikes to get the second-round knockout. With the win, Poirier improved to 30-8 and could get a title shot next time out.--Cole Shelton

Former interim champions Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje clashed at UFC 291 inside the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday Poirier and Gaethje first met inside the Octagon back in 2018, with Poirier winning that fight via fourth-round TKO. Unfortunately for Poirier, things didn't go his way this time. Poirier performed well in the opening round against Gaethje, damaging Gaethje's left eye. In the second round, Gaethje surprised Poirier with a right high kick that slept Poirier up and secured Gaethje a lightweight title shot. In six minutes of action, Poirier  landed 27 significant strikes. Poirier remains one of the top-ranked contenders in the lightweight division and is still just one or two big wins away from earning a third crack at undisputed UFC gold.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBaller
