Darren Waller Injury Update
The Las Vegas Raiders placed tight end Darren Waller (hamstring) on Injured Reserve on Thursday, according to a source. Waller aggravated his hamstring injury and the Raiders think this will give him four weeks to get healthy in order to finish the season strong. He won't be eligible to play in the next four games, so fantasy managers need to keep him stashed in an IR spot for the time being.
The 30-year-old has been a huge disappointment as a TE1 for fantasy managers in 2022, as he has just 16 receptions for 175 yards and one touchdown in five games. Foster Moreau will continue to serve as the top pass-catching tight end for Vegas, although it hasn't amounted to much. Moreau has only 11 receptions on 19 targets for 101 yards and no scores in his last three games with Waller sidelined.
David Njoku Injury Update
Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (ankle) has been officially ruled out for Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins. Njoku hasn't practiced or played since suffering a high left ankle sprain in Week 7, and he won't be able to return this weekend after resting up during last week's bye. The 26-year-old will have to return to the practice field next week in order to have a shot to suit up in Week 11 against the Buffalo Bills, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he missed another week.
In Njoku's absence in Week 8, Harrison Bryant played 74 percent of the offensive snaps but wasn't targeted at all in the passing game. Fantasy managers should ignore Bryant again this weekend. Receivers Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones will likely benefit from more targets in the passing game with Njoku out again.
Evan Engram Injury Update
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram (back) was limited once again during Thursday's practice. This is back-to-back days that Engram has only been able to get through a limited practice session. The organization is considering him day-to-day with a back issue.
Fantasy managers should consider him questionable for the Week 10 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Engram would have some TE2 value for that matchup, assuming he's able to suit up. Fantasy managers would have to check back on Friday for another update on Engram.
Cameron Brate Injury Update
Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate (neck) put in a full practice on Wednesday but is listed as questionable against the Seahawks. Rookie Cade Otton has looked good in Brate's absence, catching 13 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown in the four games with Brate sidelined.
The 31-year-old Brate will be involved when he returns to action, but Otton's emergence will probably limit his opportunities, at least initially when Tampa brings Brate back. If he plays this weekend, he shouldn't be in starting fantasy lineups.
Daniel Bellinger Injury Update
New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that rookie tight end Daniel Bellinger (eye) has been ruled out for Week 10 against the Houston Texans. Bellinger fractured his left eye socket in Week 7 and was given a two-to-six-week timetable for a return, so there's no guarantee he'll be back next weekend against the Detroit Lions. In the 22-year-old's absence, Chris Myarick and Tanner Hudson will have bigger roles on offense, but they can be ignored in fantasy.
Before his injury, Bellinger had 16 catches on 18 targets for 152 yards and two touchdowns in his first seven NFL games. In deeper leagues, he was drawing consideration as a TE2 streamer.
