Yankees Considering Masataka Yoshida
2 years agoThe New York Yankees are considering Japanese on-base machine Masataka Yoshida, an outfielder who had a .447 on-base percentage in Nippon Professional Baseball in 2022 with the Orix Buffaloes. The Yankees need more contact-oriented, on-base hitters like Yoshida, so he could be the perfect fit in the Bronx to strengthen an already potent lineup. In his career in Japan, Yoshida has a .326/.419/.538 slash line. The 29-year-old hit .335/.447/.561 this year and finished second in the league with a 1.008 OPS. Yoshida doesn't have as much power as Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki, but he has better bat-to-ball skills and on-base skills, which the Yankees need a lot more of. On the defensive side of the ball, Yoshida has plenty of question marks.
