San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had a very unusual offseason. After 3.5 years as the starter, the team traded multiple draft picks to move up and select Trey Lance third overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
While the 49ers used a top-five pick on the former North Dakota star, Garoppolo remained the starter last season when healthy. However, the team announced Lance would be the starter this year in the offseason. Meanwhile, the veteran quarterback had offseason shoulder surgery, which impacted his trade market.
After months of speculation, Garoppolo and the 49ers worked out a deal to keep the veteran in San Francisco as the backup quarterback. Unfortunately, Lance suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 2, making Garoppolo the starter for the rest of the season.

Should I Pickup Jimmy Garoppolo For Fantasy Football Week 10?
Since taking over as the starter, Garoppolo has been a consistent fantasy quarterback. He is averaging 15.4 fantasy points per game this season, scoring at least 13.9 fantasy points in all but one game.
Furthermore, the veteran has picked up his play over the past month. Garoppolo has thrown two touchdowns in his past four games, scoring 16.3 or more fantasy points in every contest.
Meanwhile, he has a solid matchup this week against the Los Angeles Chargers. They have given up at least two passing touchdowns in 62.5% of their games this year. With a healthy receiving core, Garoppolo is a solid streaming option for Week 10.
What Other Quarterbacks Should I Consider?
Fantasy players who need a bye-week replacement should consider streaming Garoppolo. However, Marcus Mariota is an excellent backup option if he isn’t available.
The veteran quarterback is one of the top running quarterbacks in the NFL, and it has given him a weekly safe floor for fantasy players.
Mariota is sixth among quarterbacks in fantasy points per game on the ground this season. Furthermore, his 304 rushing yards are the seventh-most in the NFL among quarterbacks, while his three rushing touchdowns are the fifth-most at the position.
Meanwhile, he has an appealing matchup in Week 10. The Carolina Panthers have given up at least 18 fantasy points to quarterbacks in four of their past six games, including 22.4 fantasy points to Mariota in Week 8.
