Brewers Pick Up Kolten Wong's Option
2 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers exercised second baseman Kolten Wong's $10 million option for the 2023 season on Tuesday. Wong will return as the team's everyday second baseman next season after posting a 114 OPS+ over the last two seasons with Milwaukee despite uncharacteristic struggles on defense. The 32-year-old left-handed hitter slashed .251/.339/.430 with 15 home runs, 47 RBI, 65 runs scored and 17 stolen bases in 497 plate appearances and 134 games in his second year with the Brew Crew after he hit .272 with 14 long balls, 50 RBI and 12 steals in 116 games in 2021. It will be interesting if he can continue to keep his offensive roll going in 2023, but he should at least enter next year as Milwaukee's starter at the keystone.
