2 years agoNew York Post's Jon Heyman reported Monday that Boston Red Sox first baseman Eric Hosmer will not be opting out of the remaining three years of his eight-year, $144 million contract. Hosmer is owed $39 million over the final three years of his current contract, most of which will be paid by his former team, the San Diego Padres. The 33-year-old was traded during this past season and put together his second consecutive disappointing campaign, slashing .268/.334/.382 with eight home runs and 44 RBI in 419 plate appearances. As such, it is not surprising that he will continue with his current contract.
