Adam Thielen picked up an injury in the win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8, so his status will need to be closely monitored as a matchup with the Washington Commanders awaits.
Thielen isn't a fantasy superstar at this point in his career, but he's been a solid WR3 or flex play, so he's still very much a relevant wideout in a strong offense However, a new pass-catcher has joined the Vikings after the NFL trade deadline Tuesday, so that could change his season outlook.
Will Thielen play in Week 9, and how will his rest-of-season fantasy outlook be affected by a new face in the offense?

Is Adam Thielen Healthy or Injured?
Thielen suffered a knee contusion during the win over the Cardinals, but returned after a brief exit and caught six of his seven targets for 67 yards. Ultimately, it was one of his best showings of the year.
While his return to the game is a good sign for next week's prospects, many players have returned to games and then been ruled out the following week. That said, Thielen fantasy managers need to keep an eye on the Vikings' practice and injury report throughout the week.
Adam Thielen Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook
With Irv Smith Jr. heading to injured reserve with a high-ankle injury, the Vikings traded a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 third-round pick for T.J. Hockenson, a 2023 fourth-round pick, and a 2024 conditional fourth-round pick.
It was surprising to see Hockenson dealt to an inter-division rival in the NFC North, but the trade could spell bad news for Thielen's fantasy production. Jefferson Jefferson will continue to be the target hog in Minnesota, but Hockenson has had plenty of success early in his career and presents more target competition than Smith did.
If active, Thielen is a strong flex play against Washington's poor secondary in Week 9 and can be started, but as Hockenson gets more comfortable in the Vikings' offense, expect Thielen's weekly floor to take a hit. Thielen will still have nice weeks, but he might be more of a WR4 or WR5 as the season chugs along.
