The Los Angeles Chargers have depended heavily on second-year wide receiver Joshua Palmer in 2022. Keenan Allen missed five games with a hamstring injury and Mike Williams has a high ankle sprain that will sideline him for multiple weeks.
Palmer's target share jumped from 7.5% last year to 16.7% this year with the absences of Los Angeles's star wide receivers. Palmer reeled in nine of 12 targets in his last game. He returns from a concussion that forced him to miss Week 7.
Is Joshua Palmer worth picking up and starting in Week 9? What is Palmer's fantasy football outlook for the remainder of the season?

Should I Pickup and Start Joshua Palmer In Week 9 of Fantasy Football?
Joshua Palmer has three games this year with eight or more targets. Palmer's increased usage is the direct result of Keenan Allen's extended absence. Allen missed Wednesday's practice because of a nagging hamstring injury and is in jeopardy of missing his sixth game of the season.
Mike Williams, meanwhile, is battling a serious injury of his own. Williams is set to miss 4-6 weeks with a high-ankle sprain suffered in Week 7. Josh Palmer could suit up as Justin Herbert's top wide receiver for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Atlanta has allowed 237 more passing yards than any other defense in the league. They have surrendered the second-most fantasy points to wide receivers this year. Palmer is a solid start this week with Williams out and Allen trending that way as well.
What is Joshua Palmer's Fantasy Football Outlook For 2022?
Justin Herbert is leading the league with 44 pass attempts per game. Mike Williams' 20.3% target share will need to be occupied by someone. Joshua Palmer has seen the most targets and has played the most snaps among the other Los Angeles wide receivers this year.
Palmer has been a decent flex option thus far, tallying three top-36 weekly performances. If Keenan Allen is sidelined with his hamstring injury, Palmer enters a greenfield opportunity for fantasy. He would be the WR1 for Los Angeles's air raid offense, a lucrative position for fantasy football.
Palmer can be considered a solid flex option as long as he's a top-two wide receiver in the Chargers' offense. If the 23-year-old is vaulted to the top wide receiver for LA, he's a low-end WR2 for fantasy purposes.
