Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku has played well this season. The veteran tight end is averaging 8.9 half-point PPR fantasy points per game, making him the TE6 for the year.
More importantly, the former Miami Hurricane had scored at least 7.2 half-point PPR fantasy points in five straight games. He had at least six targets and 58 receiving yards in all five of those contests.
Unfortunately, Njoku suffered a high ankle sprain last week against the Baltimore Ravens. Despite the injury, the veteran refused to declare himself out for Monday night’s matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Is David Njoku Playing?
While the star tight end refused to rule himself out for this week’s matchup against the division rival, the Browns declared Njoku out on Saturday.
Unfortunately, fantasy players won’t have the star tight end this week and will need to find a replacement option. However, the Browns have their bye in Week 9, and there is are good chance Njoku could return in Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins.
Should I Pickup And Start Harrison Bryant In Week 8?
With their starter able to play, Cleveland will turn to Bryant as the starting tight end this week.
The third-year tight end is rostered in only 4.8% of ESPN leagues. Bryant is a solid streaming or replacement option for Njoku because of his matchup.
Cincinnati has given up 9.6 half-point PPR fantasy points per game to tight ends this season, slightly above the league average. However, they have given up 11.9 or more fantasy points to tight ends in two of their past three games.
Who Else Should I Consider Off The Waiver Wire?
Bryant is a solid streaming option. However, he isn’t the best option for fantasy players this week.
Instead of picking up Bryant, fantasy players should consider Irv Smith Jr., Greg Dulcich, and Juwan Johnson. All three are available in over 60% of ESPN leagues. Of the three, Smith is my favorite streamer this week.
The veteran has seen at least four targets in five straight games and scored his second touchdown of the year in the Minnesota Vikings’ last game.
Furthermore, Smith has a great matchup in Week 8 against the Arizona Cardinals. They have surrendered the second-most fantasy points to tight ends this season, giving up 16.9 half-point PPR fantasy points per game to the position.
