Santi Aldama is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 3 of the 2022-23 NBA season.

ANALYSIS: It was unsustainable to start with so it makes sense to see Santi Aldama slowly but surely dropping his nonsensical levels of production as the games have kept coming. That said, Aldama is still entrenched into Memphis' starting lineups manning the PF position next to Steven Adams and that shouldn't change until JJJ is back and ready to play.
Aldama started the year with an 18-11-1-1-1 dub-dub and everybody went bonkers. Again: cathedral-size outlier. That said, Santi has been good for at least 8+ points in five of his six games with three of those hitting double-digit points. He has already scored six treys, is shooting 47% from the floor, and he's mostly avoiding turning the ball over on a very low usage rate.
Santi is never going to be a game-changing player in Memphis this season, mind you. He's a makeshift starter and that will eventually change. He plays in a unit that boasts Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks, and Desmond Bane to name a few. All of those are gathering usage rates above 27% and even Steven Adams' meager 12% is close to Aldama's 14%.
All things considered, though, Santi is grabbing the second-most rebounds among Grizzlies (5.8 RPG) and nearly contributing a 1-1-1 in all ancillary cats so he's a viable do-it-all-on-the-low option for needy GMs with 10+ PPG prowess and extraordinary shooting percentages.
