ANALYSIS: For a third-year man, undersized, starting games nightly, and doing so for a reasonably bad team like the Pistons still are... what Isaiah Stewart is offering nightly is way beyond what one would expect from the young Beef Stew.
Stewart has two double-double outings in the early season (six games played through Friday) and has scored 8+ points or grabbed 9+ boards in all of his games this year. His season-long line reads 11-9-1.
Stewie won't give you plenty of blocks and steals (just six combined on the two cats so far) he can stretch the floor and has scored six-in-six over the first nine days of play for an average of exactly 1.0 3PM per game.
The shooting averages have truly sucked, though, with only three games above 45% from the floor but the other three below 34%--with 6+ FGA in each and one of those matches. The free-throw shots are falling more often than not and they are coming at an impressive volume (5.5 FTA per game, 25th-most in the NBA).
Stewart's production jumped from year-one to year-two last season in all statistical cats except steals and blocks but there wasn't too much of a drop in any of those two. The improvement is there again in year-three at least through Friday and the MPG are also up to 28+ nightly. Nothing to hate here.
