Is Corey Davis Playing? Should I Pickup And Start Elijah Moore In Week 8?

Is Corey Davis playing in Week 8 against the New England Patriots, and is Elijah Moore worth picking up and starting in Week 8? Read the Friday, October 28 injury updates for Davis and Moore.

As fantasy football managers are contemplating their lineups for Week 8, some last-minute injury situations will shape their decisions and separate the winners from the losers.

Let's check in on the injuries for the New York Jets wide receivers ahead of their Week 8 Sunday game against the New England Patriots.

Is Corey Davis playing in Week 8? Should I pickup and start Elijah Moore in Week 8? Below we take a quick look at the updated injury status for Davis and Moore, and attempt to answer these questions.

Is Corey Davis Playing In Week 8 Against The New England Patriots?

Jets' WR Corey Davis has been dealing with a sprained MCL as of late and has missed multiple practices this week. He was officially ruled of New York's Week 8 matchup against the New England Patriots on Friday morning. He'll be replaced in the lineup by Elijah Moore.

Should I Pickup And Start Elijah Moore In Week 8?

After requesting a trade earlier this month, Elijah Moore is expected to return to the Jets' lineup in Week 8 against the New England Patriots. Moore put forth a promising rookie campaign last year, tallying 538 yards and five TDs in 11 games. However, he's failed to live up to expectations this season and has totaled more than 50 receiving yards just once this year. Moore's frustrations with his role in the offense boiled over earlier this month when he asked for a trade - a request the Jets have denied to this point.

Still just 22-years-old,  there's little doubt that Moore possesses both talent and long-term potential. Unfortunately, his Week 8 outlook isn't as bright, as he'll face a New England squad that is ranked fifth in the NFL in Pass Defense DVOA. An expected move to the slot this week might get Moore going, though ultimately he's faced with a brutal matchup in what's proven to be a run-heavy Jets' offensive scheme.

While Moore is still an intriguing dynasty prospect, fantasy managers that need immediate help likely won't find it with the young receiver this week. With Zach Wilson at the helm of this run-centric New York offense, Moore should be considered nothing more than a Hail Mary FLEX play for only the most desperate of fantasy managers against the Patriots in Week 8.
