Aaron Nola Starting World Series Game 1
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola will reportedly take the mound for the first game of the World Series against the Houston Astros on Friday, per a tweet from The Athletic's Matt Gelb on Wednesday. Right-hander Zack Wheeler will get the nod in Game 2 on Saturday. Nola pitched to a 3.25 ERA and a 2.77 FIP in 205 regular season innings, logging 235 strikeouts compared to just 29 walks in the process. He's continued to find success in the postseason, posting a 3.12 ERA and a 2.58 FIP in 17 1/3 playoff innings. He's also struck out 18 batters compared to three walks.
