Trade Compensation Won't Affect Decision On Carson Wentz
2 years agoWashington Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz (finger) joined the team via trade from the Indianapolis Colts. As part of the deal, there is a clause that if the 29-year-old plays on 70% or more of the offensive snaps, the compensation changes from a third-round pick to a second-round pick. He was playing 100% of the snaps until his injury occurred against the Bears in Week 6. However, the Commanders find themselves in a scenario where, if he misses five more games, he'll fall short of that mark, reducing the pick they are required to give up. While head coach Ron Rivera insists this is not affecting their decision, Wentz is already slotted to miss three more games due to injury, so it will be interesting to see how the organization handles the situation moving forward.
