Mets To Extend Pitching Coach Jeremy Hefner
2 years agoThe New York Mets are finalizing a new contract with current pitching coach Jeremy Hefner, which will keep him as their pitching coach for at least the 2023 season, per New York Post's Mike Puma. Hefner has spent the last three seasons in the role and saw his staff finish seventh in baseball this season with a 3.62 ERA. That mark may seem a bit high given their roster, but both starting pitchers Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer missed extended periods of time throughout the season. Their 2022 Wild Card Series may create a negative impression for fantasy managers heading into 2023, but the Mets should continue to offer several high-end starting options as well as an excellent closer in Edwin Diaz.
