Brian Cashman's Contract Is Up This Winter
2 years agoPer an article from SNY's Andy Martino on Sunday, New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman's contract is up this winter. Per Martino's article, "Cashman's contract is up, of course, and most in the organization believe that Hal Steinbrenner will ask him back, and that Cashman will accept." Martino's article also states that manager Aaron Boone is "expected to come back too" if Cashman stays in New York. Though Martino also mentions in the article that "The only way it seems that this could go sideways for either of them is if fan vitriol becomes so toxic that Steinbrenner decides he must initiate a GM change that no one believes he wants to make." With Cashman and Boone leading the way, the Yankees captured the American League East crown in 2022 with a 99-63 record and scored the second-most runs in the league. They also finished in the top seven league-wide in pitcher and position player fWAR. However, they were recently swept in four games in the American League Championship Series by the Houston Astros.
