DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Saturday Late Night Week 8 Daily College Fantasy Football (10/22/22)

Michael Penix Jr. - CFB DFS Picks, Daily College Fantasy Football, NFL Draft Rookies

Had enough? I didn't think so! It's not over until we say it is! I want to watch college football until my eyes bleed. You must as well otherwise you wouldn't be here!

The nightcap out west has a couple of crazy ones on tap. We start off in Laramie with Utah State visiting. The high altitude should have a little less effect on the Aggies. 45 minutes later, we head out to Berkeley for the Huskies visiting the Bay Arean. We close it out in Reno with the Pack hosting San Diego State. This is going to be a very interesting nightcap that we can make some money on. Who's with me?

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/22/22 locking at 9:45 pm eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Michael Penix, Washington ($8,800)

Cal's defense has been a little more fundamentally sound of late, but Penix is a special athlete. He still hasn't been under 300 passing yards in a Washington uniform and flew the friendly skies for 516 yards last week against Arizona. He's not running as much in this scheme, but he still can. Penix has scored a rushing touchdown in each of the last two games. Don't overthink this one. Penix is your anchor. We'll get different elsewhere.

Jalen Mayden, San Diego State ($4,500)

It's DraftKings, so you know someone is underpriced somewhere. Every sport. Every slate. Like clockwork. On this one it is Mayden, who took over for the horrid Braxton Burmeister against Hawaii and led the Aztecs to a win...and 20.78 DraftKings points. That's the most for a SDSU quarterback in at least two years. Burmeister will take some snaps and play mostly at receiver in this one if you're itching to use an inaccurate quarterback that might get loose on a trick play. Otherwise, Mayden is the value that everyone will have (and rightfully so).

Also consider: Andrew Peasley, Wyoming ($6,400); Jack Plummer, California ($5,600)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

Jordan Byrd, San Diego State ($6,300)

The San Diego State offense has been putrid this year, but Byrd did haul in his first receiving touchdown of the season last week from Mayden. This offense should look better than it has with a different quarterback, but it's San Diego State...you just never know this year. At any rate, this offense is going to look good against a terrible Nevada defense (and offense, for that matter). Of course, I said that about Hawaii last week...

Titus Swen, Wyoming ($6,000)

Swen is going to get the most predictable workload among backs, but like most of the running games on this slate, the Cowboys have struggled as well. Utah State has been chewed up on the ground by everyone but a Colorado State team whose offense is in reverse. I like Swen to get back on track here. It may not be pretty, but it should be effective.

Cameron Davis, Washington ($5,500)

Wayne Taulapapa hasn't lost his job, but he has been ineffective in the run game. Most of his points come from passes. Of course, when Penix is throwing you passes, that's not always a bad thing. Still, I'll take the discount with Davis since he has scored five rushing touchdowns in the last two games and has nine overall. He gets consistent work when it really matters, making him a GPP darling.

Also consider: Toa Taua, Nevada ($7,600); Jaydn Ott, California ($6,400); Calvin Tyler, Utah State ($5,400)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Rome Odunze, Washington ($7,600)

Odunze pulled in 169 passing yards last week and had his second multi-touchdown effort in the last three games. He has consistently been the favorite target of Penix with at least eight receptions in four straight games. The volume is there, and he is very affordable. Penix/Odunze is going to be a very common build, but we can add other pieces – like Cameron Davis – to get different.

Jeremiah Hunter, California ($5,500)

The dirty little secret in Seattle is that the Huskies have been torched through the air. Not really in yardage, but they have given up a staggering 17 passing touchdowns this season...including at least three in every conference game. Hunter is getting quite a few targets for the Bears, even though it didn't turn into much against the Ralphies last week. He should get back on track in a juicy matchup here.

Tyrell Shavers, San Diego State ($4,200)

When a team makes a quarterback change, you immediately find his favorite receiver and stack them...especially against a lousy team like Nevada. Shavers hauled in eight passes for 149 yards after the quarterback change last week. Though he didn't find the end zone, I expect him to here. Hawaii's defense has improved weekly. We can't say the same for the Pack.

Also consider: Jalen McMillan, Washington ($6,800); Brian Cobbs, Utah State ($5,200); Ja'Lynn Polk, Washington ($4,700); Justin McGriff, Utah State ($4,300); J. Michael Sturdivant, California ($3,800)
