Is James Conner Playing This Week? Should I Start Eno Benjamin In Week 6?

Is James Conner Playing This Week? Should I Start Eno Benjamin In Week 6?

Arizona Cardinals running back Eno Benjamin has had a moderately quiet career. The former Arizona State star running back was a seventh-round pick by the Cardinals in 2020.

However, he didn’t see his first career rushing attempt until Week 7 of the 2021 season. While Benjamin started his career slowly, the third-year running back has played a critical role for the Cardinals this season.

After losing Chase Edmonds in the offseason, Benjamin became the primary backup behind James Conner. Unfortunately, the veteran suffered a rib injury last week, left the game early, and did not return. After suffering the injury last week, will Conner play this week?

Is James Conner Playing This Week?

Conner wasn’t the only running back to leave last week’s game early. Arizona also lost Darrel Williams (knee) and Jonathan Ward (hamstring) to injuries, leaving Benjamin as the only healthy running back by the end of the game.

While Williams and Ward were ruled out earlier in the week, Conner had a chance to play in Week 6. However, the former Pittsburgh Steeler couldn’t practice, and head coach Kliff Kingsbury ruled out the veteran running back on Friday.

With Conner and Williams unable to play in Week 6 against the Seattle Seahawks, Benjamin will have a featured role for the first time in his career.

Should I Start Eno Benjamin In Week 6?

Last week, the former Arizona State star played 54% of the snaps, the highest amount in any game in his career. He had 11 touches for 53 scrimmage yards and a touchdown, scoring 12.8 half-point PPR fantasy points. Furthermore, Benjamin touched the ball on 29.7% of his snaps.

More importantly, Seattle has been a fantasy gold mine for running backs this season. The Seahawks have surrendered 26.8 half-point PPR fantasy points per game to running backs, the fourth-most in the NFL.

Furthermore, Seattle has given up at least 100 rushing yards to running backs in every game this season while surrendering 4.9 yards per rushing attempt.

Between his featured role and the matchup against the Seahawks, fantasy players can start Benjamin as a high-end RB2 with confidence this week.
