Wide Receiver Matchups to Target in Week 6: Chris Godwin, Gabriel Davis, George Pickens

George Pickens - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Ryan's favorite WR vs. CB matchups to exploit for Week 6 of 2022 - DFS wide receivers to target on DraftKings & FanDuel. These WR/CB matchups are GPP and cash game sleepers.

Week 6 will be full of exciting and unexpected games like the NFL has given us all year. The NFL has been full of surprises between the Giants' surprising 4-1 start or the Rams and Bengals looking the way they do after coming off a SuperBowl trip.

One thing that should be just as expected: is the Chiefs-Bills game on Sunday. Be prepared for an absolute shootout! Hopefully, this DFS article will help you win some money along the way. Matchups for the wide receiver position aren't always as black and white as they can be for other positions. Receivers sometimes move around the formation or may face shadow coverage, meaning these matchups need to be broken down deeper based on that data.

Now, here are the top WR vs CB matchups for Week 6. Use these to set season-long lineups, as well as gain a competitive edge in the DFS games. The matchup data used in this article is from PFF.

Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

DraftKings $6100 / FanDuel $6800 - vs. Arthur Maulet

The Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay offense will have an absolute field day come Sunday. The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without their three top cornerbacks this week and missing star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Godwin has been slowly recovering from injury but has started to get going over the past couple of weeks, where he finished with 59 yards and 61 yards, respectively. Arthur Maulet has not been the best in coverage this year and will have the task of covering Godwin this week.

Maulet currently allows 16.6 yards per reception to opposing receivers and a 111 passer rating to opposing quarterbacks. The Steelers have allowed the most touchdowns to wide receivers this year, and Godwin (and Mike Evans) is a must-start in all forms of fantasy. Tampa Bay has the fourth most pass attempts this year and should dominate the depleted Steelers secondary this week.

Gabriel Davis, Buffalo Bills

DraftKings $6500 / FanDuel $6900 - vs. Rashad Fenton

Gabe Davis has had a very inconsistent year so far. Davis was always a boom-or-bust player for fantasy, and despite the off-season expectations, he is still inconsistent. However, going up against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon should put him in a position to make an absolute splash.

Davis is coming off Week 5, where he finished with three receptions for 171 yards and two touchdowns. Davis is hard to predict, but this rematch of the AFC Divisional playoff game from last year should be very competitive and has the highest point total (54.0) of the week.

Davis is no stranger to shredding the Chiefs' offense; may I remind you that in his last game against the Chiefs, he had eight receptions for 201 yards and FOUR touchdowns. Rashad Fenton will likely be the primary defender, who has given up 102 yards to his primary covers over the past two games.

With the defense likely trying to cover star receiver Stefon Diggs, Davis should be able to rip off a few big plays like he did last time these teams clashed.

George Pickens, Pittsburgh Steelers

DraftKings $4600 / FanDuel $5800 - vs. Carlton Davis

George Pickens has slowly been emerging on this weak Pittsburgh offense. Pickens has gained some immediate rapport with quarterback Kenny Pickett and has seen his yardage skyrocket over the past two weeks. Over the past two weeks, Pickens has had 12 receptions for 185 yards off 16 targets.

Carlton Davis may be the primary defender this week. He only gave up 80 yards to his primary coverages over the past two weeks. Davis currently gives up 14.1 yards per reception and a 102.6 passer rating. Tampa Bay has a pretty solid secondary, only giving up the 6th least amount of receiving yards (967).

The scary Tampa Bay defensive front will likely shut down Steelers running back Najee Harris, and Kenny Pickett will have to air it out. Even against a stout defense, the volume will be there for Pickens, and he could be a solid DFS option as a young receiver on the rise.

Tyler Boyd, Cincinnati Bengals

DraftKings $5100 / FanDuel $6000 - vs. Bradley Roby

Tyler Boyd has been one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL. He has gone for 800 yards in each of the last four seasons, with over 1000 in two of them. Now buried on the depth chart behind young stars Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase, his expectations have gone down.

However, he has put together a solid season so far, going for 184 yards and one touchdown over the past three games. Tee Higgins is still nursing an injury, and there is a good chance he will sit out. In Weeks 3 & 4 last year, when Higgins was out with injury, Boyd averaged 17.2 PPR/G and went for 13 receptions, 154 yards, and one touchdown over that span.

Higgins was in the game last week, but unbeknownst to the fantasy players, he had a very limited snap count and finished with a fantasy goose egg. That tells us that even if Higgins does suit up on Sunday, there is a good chance they once again put him on limitation. If Higgins officially sits, Boyd is a solid DFS and flex option.

Michael Gallup, Dallas Cowboys

DraftKings $4800 / FanDuel $6000 - vs. James Bradberry

Michael Gallup has finally returned from injury and is slowly rejoining the Dallas offense. He has had six receptions for 68 yards and one touchdown in his two games back. Gallup is gradually improving every game and will go into a divisional clash against the Eagles on Sunday night, which should be a high-scoring affair.

James Bradberry will likely be the primary defender. Bradberry is currently the 13th-ranked PFF CB and has only allowed 9.1 yards per reception.

However, this Eagles secondary will do their best to try and lockdown star receiver CeeDee Lamb, which should result in Cooper Rush looking Gallup’s way more often than usual. Gallup finished his last healthy season with over 800 yards and should be a formidable option this week, especially with a low DK cost of $4800.

Devin Duvernay, Baltimore Ravens

DraftKings $4700 / FanDuel $6200 - vs. Adoree’ Jackson

Devin Duverany has slowly established a meaningful role in the high-powered Baltimore offense. Last week, with Rashod Bateman out with injury, he had five receptions for 54 yards and three carries for 24 yards. Rashod Bateman has officially been declared out for Week 6, and Duvernay will again be a huge beneficiary.

Adoree’ Jackson will likely be the primary defender this week, who has been giving up 15.3 yards per reception to opposing receivers and a 104.2 passer rating to opposing quarterbacks. Baltimore has done a great job finding creative ways to get Duvernay the ball, whether it’s a long shot downfield, quick slants, or even carries.

The Giants’ have had a significantly underestimated defense this year, and with a matchup that some may think will be a blowout, they could remain competitive. With Bateman out, Devin Duvernay is a great DFS play this week.
