Viktor Hovland finished tied for 13th at the RBC Heritage three weeks ago and is now focusing on preparing for the Truist Championship at The Philadelphia Cricket Club this week. So far this season, Hovland has three top-25 finishes and one win in nine starts, although he has also missed the cut in four of those tournaments. Over the past 12 months, he ranks in the 90th percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from 100-150 yards in the fairway. This is significant because the Wissahickon Course at The Philadelphia Country Club features nine par-4s that are under 450 yards. Hovland may be a strong addition to DFS lineups this week, but including him carries some risk.

After his win in Florida a few weeks ago, Viktor Hovland found himself in the mix of things at The Masters going into the weekend before back-to-back 73s thwarted his chances at a green jacket. The approach play remains high, as his week at Augusta was the fourth consecutive event averaging more than a stroke gained per round with his irons. His deficiencies around the greens and severe streakiness with the putter make him a touch choice every week, and while his work from tee to green may do enough to make the cut this week, it likely won't do enough to make his $10,700 price tag worth it.

Viktor Hovland missed the cut at last month's Genesis Invitational and is now focusing on this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational, held at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club. The missed cut marked Hovland's second of the year. Last year, he finished T10 in this tournament, and in 2024, he finished T36. Over the past 12 months, Hovland ranks in the 85th percentile for approach shots from 150-200 yards in the fairway. This is noteworthy because, at last year's Arnold Palmer Invitational, over 35% of approach shots came from this distance. Including Hovland in DFS lineups this week carries some risk.

Viktor Hovland has started in just two PGA events this year, recording finishes of T36 and T22. He now turns his focus to the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines, a course where he has played twice, finishing T2 in 2021 and missing the cut in 2019 -- both at the Farmers Insurance Open. This year, Hovland ranks 146th in strokes gained around the green but makes up for it with his approach play. He ranks in the 96th percentile for proximity to the hole from 150-200 yards over the past 12 months, a distance that accounts for 39.6% of all approach shots at Torrey Pines. Additionally, Hovland is accurate off the tee, ranking 37th on tour in accuracy while gaining 2.390 strokes off the tee through his first two events. At a price tag of $7,900 on DraftKings, Hovland's upside is certainly worth considering for fantasy managers.
