Laviska Shenault Jr., Rashard Higgins Inactive Sunday
2 years agoCarolina Panthers wide receivers Laviska Shenault Jr. (hamstring) and Rashard Higgins (coach's decision) are inactive for Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers. Outside of a big Week 3 from Shenault, neither player had been on the fantasy football radar. DJ Moore is still the only Panthers receiver whom you should consider starting this week.

Laviska Shenault Jr., Rashard Higgins Listed As DNPs
2 years agoCarolina Panthers wide receivers Laviska Shenault Jr. (illness) and Rashard Higgins (illness) were both listed as non-participants on Monday's estimated practice report. It remains to be seen if either Shenault or Higgins will be available for the Panthers on a short week on Thursday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons. It was believed that Shenault would take on a bigger role in the passing game after Carolina traded Robbie Anderson to Arizona, but that hasn't really happened. The 24-year-old has just six catches on eight targets for 34 yards in the last three games, and he played just six percent of the offensive snaps in the Week 9 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Higgins has been active for only three games in 2022, has played just nine offensive snaps and doesn't have a target.

Rashard Higgins A Healthy Scratch In Week 8
2 years agoCarolina Panthers wide receiver Rashard Higgins is a healthy inactive in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons. Higgins has been active for only three games so far in 2022 and he's played just nine offensive snaps while drawing zero targets in the passing game in Carolina's lackluster offense. With Higgins on the sideline on Sunday against Atlanta, the Panthers will have DJ Moore, Terrance Marshall Jr., Laviska Shenault Jr. and Shi Smith as their four receivers for quarterback PJ Walker, who is making his second straight start after a surprising upset win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7. Higgins is obviously way off the fantasy radar.

Rashard Higgins Could Take Targets From Robbie Anderson
3 years agoCarolina Panthers wide receiver Rashard Higgins and quarterback Baker Mayfield had a knack for connecting on big plays and touchdowns with the Cleveland Browns, so it's no surprise that Higgins has been one of Mayfield's favorite targets in training camp. Higgins has also earned the trust of backup Sam Darnold with his strong camp. D.J. Moore is the team's clear No. 1 wideout, but Higgins could take targets away from Robbie Anderson, especially if Anderson gets off to a slow start after a disappointing second season in Carolina. The 27-year-old's stock is trending up, but he still won't be on the fantasy radar for those in standard-sized leagues to begin the 2022 season. Last year in Cleveland, Higgins had 24 catches (47 targets) for 275 yards and one touchdown in 15 games (four starts).

Rashard Higgins Scores In Panthers' Preseason Opener
3 years agoCarolina Panthers wide receiver Rashard Higgins, a new addition to the team's receiving corps, hauled in all three of his targets for 22 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason win over the Washington Commanders. He scored on an eight-yard dime from quarterback Sam Darnold in the first quarter. The Panthers have D.J. Moore and Robbie Anderson listed as starters on their first 2022 depth chart, so Higgins will be competing with second-year wideout Terrace Marshall Jr. to be the team's WR3. Higgins, however, has been flashing in camp and has existing chemistry with Baker Mayfield from their four years together in Cleveland. He is not a worthwhile selection in redraft fantasy football leagues. Still, he has had fantasy-relevant games in the past, making him an option in deep-league formats regardless of the starting quarterback.
