Shane Bieber Dominates Rays In Friday's Wild-Card Win
2 years agoCleveland Guardians starting pitcher Shane Bieber was nearly flawless in Game 1 of the Wild-Card round on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays, throwing 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball. He struck out eight, walked one and allowed just three hits to earn the victory. Although Bieber's 25.0% strikeout rate was his lowest mark since 2018, he posted ace-like numbers everywhere else. Over 31 starts, the 27-year-old had a 2.88 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 4.6% walk rate and 13 wins. If the Guardians make it past this round, Bieber will likely start Game 1 or 2 of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees.
