Dak Prescott Injury Update

Jerry Jones was optimistic that Dak Prescott could return in a month following his Week 1 thumb injury, but he still hasn't made enough progress to suit up in Week 5. Ahead of Sunday's game for the Dallas Cowboys, Prescott has yet to throw a regular football and the team wants him to go through a full week of practice before bringing him back.

Considering that Prescott's injury is a fractured thumb, the Cowboys have to make sure he can comfortably grip a football before he's back on the field. The Pro Bowl signal-caller has been throwing a nerf ball, but it appears it'll be at least one more week until we see Prescott back under center for Dallas.

With Prescott inactive for Week 5, it will be Cooper Rush starting again on Sunday versus the Los Angeles Rams as the Cowboys are amid a three-game winning streak.

Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update

It seems as if there have been positive signs for Tua Tagovailoa since suffering a scary injury that forced him to be rushed to the hospital during last week's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Miami Dolphins have ruled Tagovailoa out for Sunday's game versus the New York Jets and it remains to be seen when he'll be able to return.

After some questionable decisions were made to let the young quarterback play in Week 4, hopefully the Dolphins are smart and make sure Tagovailoa is one hundred percent healthy before he begins practicing again. Miami should be less concerned about setting a target date for him to return while allowing Tagovailoa to focus on his health moving forward.

While we hope everything works out fine with Tagovailoa, Teddy Bridgewater will be the starting quarterback for the Dolphins. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are still must-play wide receivers with Bridgewater at quarterback, though, there could be fewer explosive plays.

Mac Jones Injury Update

The New England Patriots took a hit in their Week 3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens when it was discovered that Mac Jones suffered an ankle injury. The second-year quarterback was unable to play in Week 4 versus the Green Bay Packers and he's listed as doubtful in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions.

The good news for Jones is that Bill Belichick said the young quarterback was closer to playing this week than he was last week, so he's made decent progress in his recovery. That being said, New England is being cautious with its hopeful franchise quarterback.

Bailey Zappe is expected to make his first career start in the NFL after replacing Brian Hoyer in Week 4, who was placed on injured reserve due to a concussion. The rookie quarterback was slightly aggressive in pushing the ball down the field, so the value of the wide receivers on the Patriots isn't affected much while the running backs get a massive boost.

Jameis Winston Injury Update

Jameis Winston was attempting to play through multiple fractures in his back earlier in the season, but the Saints are giving him time to recover from his ailment. After missing last week's showdown with the Minnesota Vikings, Winston is doubtful to play on Sunday versus the Seattle Seahawks.

The former first-round pick didn't log a single practice this week, so it's not surprising to see he's trending toward being out in Week 5. Given the current state of the Saints, there is no rush to get Winston back on the field as he'll need time to get back to being healthy enough to play quarterback.

Andy Dalton is expected to start on Sunday as the Saints are expected to get Alvin Kamara back at running back. With Dalton not having Michael Thomas and his recent tendency to throw it short, Kamara could be primed for a productive game in Week 5.

Daniel Jones Injury Update

The New York Giants surprisingly improved to 3-1 in a win over the Chicago Bears in Week 4, but Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor sustained injuries in the game. While Taylor has been ruled out for Sunday's London game against the Green Bay Packers, Jones has been removed from the injury report and he'll start at quarterback.

When the Giants first revealed Jones' injury last week, it didn't appear to be good news for his status in Week 5. However, the former first-round pick has been able to make enough progress in practice to where New York is comfortable with him rejoining the starting offense.

The Giants don't have many pass-catching options, so Jones still isn't a viable quarterback in Week 5, especially versus the Packers. And with Taylor unable to play, Davis Webb will be the backup to Jones on Sunday.
