DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Week 5 Daily College Fantasy Football - Saturday Main Slate (10/8/22)

Bijan Robinson - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Rookies, Draft Sleepers

Mike's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for the Saturday Main Week 6 (10/8/22) slate. His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.

How fitting is it that post number 600 for me on RotoBaller is the Saturday behemoth? I want to thank all of you for reading along and hopefully we've made some money along the way. 14 games is the largest college football slate of the season on DraftKings so far and we have a great one on tap! Missouri, fresh off nearly upsetting Georgia, heads down to the Swamp. Tennessee heads to the other swamp (Death Valley). We have Arkansas heading to StarkVegas. Indiana hosts a Michigan team that they always play tough. Taulia and the Terps host Purdue. We have Gameday in Lawrence!! We have the Red River Shootout, and those are just the noon kicks!

The afternoon begins with Georgia looking for redemption against Auburn. Utah heads down the mountains and into L.A. Texas Tech heads up to Stillwater to take on the Cowboys that are everything but still. Wisconsin heads to Evanston for a meeting of Underachievers not-so-Anonymous. We finish off the afternoon with Vandy hosting Ole Miss and some Pac-12 flavor with Washington heading to the Valley of the Sun. Ohio State heads to East Lansing in a rare trifecta of 4 pm Eastern kickoffs. This is going to be a great one!

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/8/22 locking at noon eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Michael Penix Jr., Washington ($8,500)

The Buckeyes have been content to prove to everyone that they can demoralize opponents by running on them. That has meant some pedestrian lines for Stroud, so I'm not paying the premium. Meanwhile, Penix is the engine that makes the Huskies go. Even in what was considered a subpar outing against UCLA last week, Penix still put up 32.7 DraftKings points. He is a safe option on the high-end for quarterbacks today. Penix has thrown for more than 300 yards in every game this season. That's a nice little bonus on DraftKings.

Hendon Hooker, Tennessee ($8,100)

Lost in the final score of last week's game was just how successful Auburn was moving the ball through the air against the LSU defense. Freshman Robby Ashford threw for 337 on the Tigers. Hooker is not a freshman and he hasn't thrown an interception all season. The only game in which the LSU defense played up to their standards was against New Mexico. Hooker will likely be avoided by some based on the matchup and location, but I'll happily flock towards Hooker at lower ownership.

Jalon Daniels, Kansas ($6,900)

Iowa State did a nice job on Daniels last week. If it wouldn't have been for his rushing touchdown, Daniels would have been a total bust. He only ran for nine yards and had just 93 passing yards. TCU's pass defense has been really good, but they have given up yards on the ground to teams that aren't good running teams. Kansas is a good running team, led by Daniels. We should see a return to fantasy prominence for Daniels in this one even if the doesn't do much through the air. The Toadies have given up six rushing touchdowns in the last two games alone.

Aidan O'Connell, Purdue ($6,000)

O'Connell had a bit of a rough game against Minnesota, but that's to be expected. The Gophers have been strong defensively all year. Whatever O'Connell's injury was, it certainly seemed to be affecting him as he threw two of his three interceptions on the season in that game. This will be an easier matchup against Maryland in what could be a high-scoring game. I like O'Connell quite a bit at this price.

Also consider: C.J. Stroud, Ohio State ($9,200); Spencer Sanders, Oklahoma State ($8,000); Will Rogers, Mississippi State ($7,700); Max Duggan, TCU ($7,200); Taulia Tagovailoa, Maryland ($6,700); Robby Ashford, Auburn ($5,000)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

Bijan Robinson, Texas ($9,000)

The Oklahoma defense has been equal-opportunity horrible this year. They are allowing nearly 200 rushing yards per game while still being thrown all over. Texas will establish the run early and often and they likely won't stop unless forced to. Robinson has eclipsed the century mark in three consecutive games and has scored at least one touchdown in every game. He could be in for a monster against this "defense."

Miyan Williams, Ohio State ($7,300)

Of course, we don't really know what's wrong with TreVeyon Henderson. However, considering the game Williams had last week, the Buckeyes have no reason to use Henderson unless there is absolutely no chance at aggravating the injury. We may not know until after kickoff, so Williams is a GPP-only play. If news comes out that he is the starter again before the game, we could see a big game against from Williams. Michigan State has allowed 315 rushing yards over the last two games. If Henderson plays like is being suggested, I might just move on to Sanders or Miller. If Henderson is in, I'm off Williams and don't really want to pay the premium for Henderson.

Quinshon Judkins, Mississippi ($6,400)

There hasn't been an official changing of the guard in the Ole Miss backfield, but one look at the box scores from the last two weeks tell us that Judkins at the very least has more of the timeshare than Zach Evans does. The freshman has been electric for the Rebels, scoring five touchdowns in the last three games. Evans will still get all of the work on passing downs, but Judkins has at least 87 rushing yards in every game this year even though Evans tops the depth chart. He's still far too cheap on DraftKings.

Devin Mockobee, Purdue ($3,500)

Dylan Downing is technically still the starter, but Mockobee has at least ten touches in ever game that he has played in this season. He seems more explosive than Downing and has caught eight passes in four games. Mockobee's performance in the upset of the Gophers – particularly the fact that he was still getting touches in the fourth quarter – make me feel confident in using him this week. He hasn't been under double digits yet!

Also consider: Blake Corum, Michigan ($7,900); Xazavian Valladay, Arizona State ($6,700); Raheim Sanders, Arkansas ($6,200); Kendre Miller, TCU ($6,000); Roman Hemby, Maryland ($5,200); John Emery, LSU ($4,800); Jovantae Barnes, Oklahoma ($4,400)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Rome Odunze, Washington ($7,200)

Any one of the Ohio State receivers will have a big game, but I'll be damned if I know which one (or two). While Washington still has a lot of weapons on offense, Odunze has proven to be the favorite target of Penix lately. Odunze has 16 receptions for 277 yards and three touchdowns over the last two games against UCLA and Stanford. Both defenses have been better than the one Washington will face here. Odunze should have another big day.

Charlie Jones, Purdue ($7,000)

Jones' output against Minnesota certainly qualifies as a disappointment, but there should be more points scored this weekend. If we're betting on O'Connell being closer to healthy in this game, there's no reason not to use Jones with him. His six receptions against Minnesota were his lowest output of the season by three. In a faster-paced game, Jones should get his usual ten points on receptions alone. He has the best floor of any receiver on the slate.

Xavier Worthy, Texas ($6,300)

If you have watched Oklahoma at all this year, you know this is a no-brainer. Worthy is by far Texas's best volume receiver and the secondary doesn't cover...they just tackle when the ball is in the air. Don't worry, the Sooners still blow enough coverages that Worthy will be running free in the secondary a few times in this one. The pass interference penalties cap his upside, but not by that much.

Dalton Kincaid, Utah ($4,400)

The Utes love to spread the ball around, but Kincaid is almost always the target near the end zone since Brant Kuithe went down. He has three touchdowns over the last four games and has scored five on the season. His volume will be a little lower on a team like this, but when Utah gets close to paydirt, Kincaid is always on their radar. If Kuithe is a go against UCLA, I will have him everywhere at minimum price.

Also consider: Devaughn Vele, Utah ($7,400); Jalen Hyatt, Tennessee ($6,900); Rara Thomas, Mississippi State ($6,100); Malik Heath, Mississippi ($6,000); Braydon Johnson, Oklahoma State ($5,600); Malik Washington, Northwestern ($4,900);

College Football DFS Game Stack Options

You know which team stacks are often good, but this isn't baseball. Game stacks can and do work. Just look at Appalachian State-North Carolina in week 1. That game made several DFS players a few thousand bucks. Who can do that this week? Let's check it out!

Texas Tech at Oklahoma State

The spread in this is still under ten points, which surprises me. Still, Texas Tech could have some fantasy goodness in this one. Donovan Smith has over 300 passing yards in three of the last four games. His receivers are where it gets tricky. I like Tahj Brooks for the price since he is very active in the passing game. If Myles Price is out again, I love the price on Xavier White. Oklahoma State is a little more clear-cut. Sanders and Braydon Johnson are must-plays. Brennan Presley is the other great option. The price has soured me a little on Daniel Richardson, but he's still not a bad option.

Texas vs. Oklahoma

Come on...it's called a shootout for a reason. I really like the Texas side a lot more this year. Even if Dillon Gabriel plays, I don't know that I would use him. Eric Gray is far too expensive. My Oklahoma exposure will likely be limited to Jovantae Barnes and a receiver. If Gabriel plays, I like Marvin Mims. If he doesn't, I'm going for the discount tight end in Brayden Willis.

For Texas, you can really use anyone. If Quinn Ewers plays, I love the discount. Hudson Card is still a strong option if he starts. I like both Robinson and Roschon Johnson due to Oklahoma's tackling woes. Xavier Worthy is low-hanging fruit. Ja'Tavion Sanders is an excellent GPP play.

Honorable Mention: Utah at UCLA
