years agoMinnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa isn't in the lineup for the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. The 27-year-old is hitting .291 this season with a .366 on-base percentage and 22 home runs in 590 plate appearances. Instead, it'll be Jermaine Palacios hitting eighth and getting the start at shortstop. Palacios has logged 73 plate appearances in the Majors for the Twins this season, batting .136 with a .181 on-base percentage and a home run in 73 plate appearances. Fantasy managers in search of streaming help at the position are probably better off looking elsewhere.--Ben Rosener - RotoBaller

months agoMinneapolis Star Tribune's Bobby Nightengale reports that the Minnesota Twins have received calls from teams interested in trading for shortstop Carlos Correa. The veteran shortstop is owed over $120 million over the next four seasons and has been limited to 221 games in the last two seasons due to various injuries, most notably with his feet. The 30-year-old Puerto Rican and three-time All-Star played in only 86 games in 2024 but swung the bat well when healthy, slashing .310/.388/.517 with a .905 OPS, 14 home runs, 54 RBI and 55 runs scored. Correa is recovering nicely in the offseason and should be ready for next year. He showed that he still has above-average power, but because of durability issues with his feet, interested teams aren't likely to offer much to Minnesota. There are also long-term concerns about his ankle, making him a pretty big risk in real life and in fantasy in 2025 and beyond.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

months agoMinnesota Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey said the plantar fasciitis in shortstop Carlos Correa's right foot is progressing ahead of where he was with his left foot a year ago. If Correa is able to stay healthy, the Twins plan to keep him as their starter at the 6 and not move him to third base. "He's still young," Falvey said. "He's a tremendous shortstop. I see no reason why he wouldn't be as long he manages the plantar issues in a positive direction. He's tracking in a positive direction. He's got good plans for how he's going to handle it therapeutically and I think he's in a good place." The 30-year-old ended up missing most of the second half of the season due to ongoing foot issues but still finished with a .310/.388/.517 slash line with a .905 OPS, 14 home runs and 54 RBI in 86 games played. At a premium position, Correa's foot issues make him an extremely risky fantasy SS heading into 2025.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

months agoThe Minnesota Twins will activate shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) from the injured list on Saturday and will option outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Correa should be back in the starting lineup on Saturday at Target Field against the Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Nick Martinez, but fantasy managers will want to check back later for further confirmation. The 29-year-old has been away from the Twins since the All-Star break due to plantar fasciitis, so there certainly could be a bit of a rust factor now that he's back. The Puerto Rican infielder was hitting a strong .308/.377/.520 with an .896 OPS, 13 home runs, 47 RBI and 51 runs scored in 279 at-bats before his injury, so fantasy managers are hoping he can somehow pick up where he left off. Don't be surprised if the Twins look to ease Correa back in at shortstop after all the time he has missed.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

months agoMinnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) is "very encouraged" after sprinting three of the last four days. Correa started a new treatment five days ago. He's not getting ahead of himself right now, but it's also the best he's felt in a long time as he tries to recover from plantar fasciitis in his right foot. It's good news for the 29-year-old, but there is very little time left for him to do anything for fantasy managers still in the mix for a title. Given all the time that Correa has missed (he's been out since July), it's likely he'll need some kind of a rehab assignment, although the minor-league will also be over soon. Until Correa is able to return, infield prospect Brooks Lee should continue to see regular playing time at the 6 in Minnesota. Foot issues have become a problem for Correa, but he was also hitting an impressive .308/.377/.520 with an .896 OPS, 13 homers and 47 RBI this year before his injury.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
