Matt Carpenter Has A Chance To Play Next Week
2 years agoNew York Yankees infielder Matt Carpenter (foot) took batting practice on the field on Friday and is hitting in the cages. He hasn't had any issues after doing weight-bearing on his fractured foot, and he said that there is a chance he might return to play in the final series of the regular season next week against the Texas Rangers. Manager Aaron Boone said that the 36-year-old left-handed slugger could also head to Double-A Somerset next week to get live at-bats before the start of the postseason. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to play next week, but it looks like the Yankees might have Carpenter available to them when the playoffs begin. Carpenter was killing it in 128 at-bats before fracturing his foot, hitting .305/.412/.727 with a 1.138 OPS, 15 home runs, 37 RBI and 28 runs scored.
