Pete Alonso Reaches 40 Homers
2 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso provided much of the offense for the team Tuesday, hitting a three-run home run in a 6-4 loss to the Miami Marlins. This brings the reigning National League Player of the Week's total for the year to 40 home runs. He also has a major-league leading 131 RBI. Alonso has had an excellent season at the plate, producing an .872 OPS, scoring 91 runs, and adding five swiped bags in 661 plate appearances. He won't approach his 53 homer total that he produced in his rookie 2019, but Alonso has proven that he's one of the most formidable power hitters in the league.
