Cam Akers Leads Rams RBs In Carries And Yards
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers took 12 carries for 61 yards and one touchdown in LA's 20-12 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3. On the downside, the 23-year-old lost a fumble and he was not targeted in the passing game. But he looks like the lead back he was expected to be. He has increased his share of the workload in each contest. From three carries in Week 1, Akers out-carried backfield-mate Darrell Henderson Jr. 12 to four. He has also increased his yards per carry from 0.0 to 2.9 and now 5.1 on a week-by-week basis. This is the kind of performance Akers will need to finish as a top-24 RB -- high efficiency while reaching the end zone.
