What Did Tom Brady Do In Week 1?

Before we look at Brady's history against the Saints, let's talk about last week against the Cowboys.

Brady went 18-for-27 from the field last week with 212 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Those numbers weren't great, but they didn't really need to be great, as the Cowboys put up just three points.

Maybe Brady wasn't out there slinging the ball around for 350 yards, but Week 1 definitely didn't make us feel like Brady was hitting a wall or anything. He did what he needed to do to win that game, and the Bucs didn't need him to throw 40 times. If they had, those numbers would have looked better.

What Has Tom Brady Done Against The Saints Lately?

Brady's last four games against the Saints have not gone well.

Since joining the Bucs, Brady has thrown six touchdowns and eight interceptions in four regular season games against the Saints. Four of those touchdowns came in Week 8 last week, when he threw for 375 yards. That means the other three games saw Brady combine for two touchdowns and six picks.

In one playoff game, Brady completed just 55.6% of his passes for 199 yards, but he didn't throw an interception and the Bucs won 30-20 thanks to his two touchdown passes.

It's definitely concerning, but how concerning? Does it make us want to bench Brady for another fantasy quarterback?

Should I Start Tom Brady In Week 2 Fantasy Football?

It seems like everyone is viewing Brady as a sit candidate this week.

But I'm not sure about that. If Brady is on your roster, you likely either don't have a backup quarterback, or you have a backup who doesn't have the ceiling that Brady has.

Yes, he's struggled against the Saints. But this is also a new season. C.J. Gardner-Johnson had a pick in both games against Tampa last year, but he's now playing for the Eagles. And in Week 1, the Saints let Marcus Mariota throw 33 times without an interception.

You should still start Tom Brady this week.
