Welcome back, RotoBallers, to my PGA DFS Pivots for DraftKings! This week, the PGA event is The Tour Championship.
The 2021-2022 season comes to an end this week at The Tour Championship. After a Will Zalatoris withdraw, that leaves 29 golfers to fight it out for the top spot in Atlanta. Scheffler will start out 10 under and two shots ahead of Patrick Cantlay.
With such a small field, it is vital that your lineups be contrarian if playing GPPs. Leaving salary on the table is one way to increase the chances your lineup will not be duplicated. While finishing position points are important, golfers will have four rounds to make up ground. Make sure to consider these factors when making lineups.
The Tour Championship - DFS Lineup Pivots
Cameron Smith ($10,400)
Cameron Smith is surprisingly projected to be one of the lowest-owned golfers in the field. Injury concerns and the LIV narrative could play into that. In a 30-man field, getting the caliber golfer of Smith at low ownership may just be too good to pass up.
Over the last 24 rounds, Smith ranks first in the field in strokes gained approach. He also ranks 15th in strokes gained tee-to-green and seventh in putting. Smith is starting six shots behind Scheffler but only has five golfers in front of him. He has the firepower to climb the leaderboard for four rounds. He is an excellent DFS play.
Matthew Fitzpatrick ($8,800)
Another projected low-owned golfer is Matthew Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick struggled last week at The BMW Championship. He finished in 48th place and lost 7.7 strokes on approach and 7.2 strokes tee-to-green.
His recent play is a likely reason he is projected to be low-owned. He starts seven strokes back but offers upside based on his projected ownership. Two starts ago he finished fifth at The FedEx St. Jude and I expect a similarly strong performance this week.

K.H. Lee ($6,000)
K.H. Lee is one of my favorite value plays on the slate. His salary allows us some flexibility to roster some of the golfers near the top of the leaderboard. He played well last week at The BMW Championship where he gained 2.9 strokes tee-to-green and 2.1 on approach.
Over the last 24 rounds, Lee ranks near the top of the field in putting, and if he can lean on that putter this week he could pay off his salary.
