3 years agoRory McIlroy will tee it up for the first time since his third-place finish at The Open Championship. McIlroy finished the regular season sixth in the FedEx Cup standings but is nearly 1,500 points off the lead. McIlroy would need a huge couple of weeks to win another FedEx Cup, but TPC Southwind is a great place to start. In his career, McIlroy has three top-12 finishes in five starts, and two of those have come in the last three years. In terms of DFS, McIlroy will be the most expensive option in most, if not all contests this week. Although a top-20 finish is nearly a lock, it will be tough for McIlroy to fully payoff that salary this week. He is still a great option, but better value can be found this week. --Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoThere is no other way to explain the Rory McIlroy show making a stop in Houston this week than that he feels as close as he possibly ever has to winning a green jacket. It's certainly the hottest start to a season he's had in quite some time, coming off the second Players Championship win of his career and notching a victory at Pebble Beach earlier in the year. 2025 could very well be the year for the Northern Irishman, which draws concerns for him from a DFS perspective this week. At $13,200 on FanDuel, getting to his pricetag will be hard enough, but how serious he takes this week is another major concern. It feels like he's only a useful asset with a win, which doesn't seem like it would be of much importance given the bigger prize in a couple of weeks.--Todd McGill - RotoBaller

4 weeks agoSince his victory in 2019, Rory McIlroy has not had the greatest of times at the Stadium Course. Putting has been the main concern during that time, as he lost a combined -13.28 strokes on the greens between 2021 and 2023. That has luckily been a strong point of emphasis for the 35-year-old this season, as he has ranked inside the top 10 in strokes gained putting in two of four events. Given that he averaged -0.28 strokes gained on approach at Bay Hill, the iron play is perhaps the largest question mark heading into Thursday. Still, McIlroy is a weekly asset and should warrant any consideration DFS players are willing to give him.--Todd McGill - RotoBaller

1 month agoRory McIlroy finished tied for 17th at the Genesis Invitational last month and is now focusing on preparing for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which takes place this week at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club. This will be McIlroy's third PGA Tour event of the year, and he has played well so far in 2025, including a victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Historically, McIlroy has fared well at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, finishing tied for 21st in 2024 and tied for second in 2023. He could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups this week.--Ian Christenson - RotoBaller

2 months agoRory McIlroy is arguably enjoying one of the best stretches of golf in his illustrious career. Since his T9 at the Tour Championship to close out last season, The 35-year-old Northern Irishman has racked up six finishes inside of the top-10 in his last seven starts, including two runner-up finishes and two outright victories. Most recently, the OWGR No. 1 cruised to a two-shot victory over his good friend Shane Lowry at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, gaining over seven strokes from tee-to-green and over three and a half strokes putting. He could be in line for another top-10 showing at the Genesis Invitational, as he ranks first in driving distance, fourth in total driving, 13th on approach, first in birdie-or-better percentage, and ninth in bogey avoidance over the last 36 rounds, while also boasting the second-best course history at Torrey Pines. Fantasy managers should not be surprised if McIlroy finds himself in contention for back-to-back Tour victories come Sunday evening.--Ryan Hickey
