The Atlanta Braves optioned right-hander Ian Anderson and outfielder Guillermo Heredia to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday and recalled right-hander Huascar Ynoa and selected catcher Chadwick Tromp's contract in corresponding moves. Anderson was solid last year with a 3.58 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 24 starts, but he's really struggled in 2022, going 9-6 with a 5.11 ERA (4.24 FIP), a 1.54 WHIP, 93 strikeouts and a league-high 53 walks in 105 2/3 innings over 21 starts. He'll head to the minors in order to work on his control. Ynoa has made two starts for Atlanta this year, allowing 10 earned runs on 11 hits (two homers) while striking out eight and walking six in just 6 2/3 frames. He also has a 5.38 ERA in 72 innings at Gwinnett, but there is some strikeout upside here.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Atlanta Braves are declining to tender right-handed pitcher Huascar Ynoa's contract, which will make him a free agent. The 26-year-old pitcher has spent most of the past two seasons on the injured list as he logged just 29 2/3 during this span and has not returned to the big leagues since the 2022 campaign. Across 122 1/3 innings in Atlanta, Ynoa sometimes showed high-strikeout potential but struggled with an overall 5.22 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. Through 185 innings with Triple-A Gwinnett, Ynoa carried a similar 5.55 ERA and 1.48 WHIP while striking out 199 batters in 185 frames. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should monitor Ynoa's status during the offseason, as he could find a potential suitor willing to take a chance on him, given the swing-and-miss upside he has shown.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Atlanta Braves right-hander Huascar Ynoa (elbow) appeared in a game on Tuesday in the rookie-level Florida Complex League for the first time since April and allowed an earned run on two hits while walking none and striking out none in two innings of work. Ynoa is recovering from a stress reaction in his right elbow and will likely need the full 30 days on his rehab assignment before he becomes an option for the Braves' major-league pitching staff. The 26-year-old is currently on the 60-day injured list and will likely be ticketed for Triple-A Gwinnett once his rehab assignment concludes. The Dominican hurler hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2022 for Atlanta and holds a career 5.22 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with a 24.4% strikeout rate in 122 1/3 innings over 31 appearances (24 starts) since debuting in 2019.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Atlanta Braves have demoted starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa to Triple-A Gwinnett. Ynoa, 25, is returning from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in 2022. He tossed a scoreless inning this spring with one strikeout. The Braves are likely to have a workload limit on the right-hander, no matter which level he is at this season. He can safely remain on the waiver wire in all formats.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker said that he saw right-hander Huascar Ynoa (elbow) throw a bullpen session the other day in camp after coming back from Tommy John surgery at the end of the 2022 season. "He looks great, I know that," Snitker said. The 25-year-old missed the entire 2023 campaign, but he appears to be making good progress and could be ready for the start of the 2024 regular season, barring any setbacks. The Dominican hurler has appeared in 31 games (24 starts) in four major-league seasons with Atlanta, going a combined 4-8 with a 5.22 ERA (4.35 FIP) and 1.32 WHIP with 45 walks and 128 strikeouts in 122 1/3 innings pitched. When healthy, Ynoa has some nice strikeout upside, but he'll surely be on an innings limit in 2024 after missing all of last season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
