3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (knee) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Memphis this Thursday. According to John Denton of MLB.com, the Cardinals are planning for Molina to play a few games at Triple-A, then return to the team on August 2. On that day, the Cardinals will play against the Chicago Cubs and Molina's longtime teammate Adam Wainwright is scheduled to pitch. The 40-year-old has been out since the middle of June due to right knee inflammation. He appeared in 38 games this year prior to landing on the injured list and slashed .213/.225/.294 with two home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller

3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (knee) will remain sidelined for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 40-year-old catcher will miss his third game in a row due to right knee soreness. The organization does consider him day-to-day, so hopefully he can avoid a trip to the injured list. Andrew Knizner will cover behind the plate and bat eighth against left-hander Andrew Heaney on Friday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

3 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals activated catcher Yadier Molina from the restricted list on Monday and optioned catcher Ivan Herrera to Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. The Cardinals also removed right-hander Ryan Helsley from the paternity list and placed him on the restricted list. Molina has been away from the team handling personal matters in Puerto Rico since Saturday, but he'll be available to begin the week and has returned to catching duties while batting eighth against Chicago Cubs left-hander Drew Smyly on Monday. The 40-year-old future Hall of Famer is limping to the finish line of an amazing career with St. Louis, as he's hitting just .222/.243/.283 with two home runs, 12 RBI, 12 runs scored and a stolen base in his 180 at-bats in 2022.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
