Tomas Nido Exits Friday With Left Hand Contusion
2 years agoNew York Mets catcher Tomas Nido (hand) was removed from Friday's game against the San Diego Padres due to a left hand contusion. Patrick Mazeika entered the contest in the sixth inning to take over behind the plate. Nido underwent X-rays after the game and they came back negative. He is currently the team's primary catcher with James McCann (oblique) on the injured list. It's unclear at this point whether or not Nido will miss time with the injury. If he were to wind up joining McCann on the injured list, there's a good chance the Mets would be forced to call up their top prospect, catcher Francisco Alvarez.
